  • Notes

    • Leslie Gordon was born in 1899. He had a short life, falling victim to the influenza epidemic of 1918. At the time of his death in Taupiri, he was a butcher's delivery boy. He made his deliveries on a horse - the whole neighbourhood liked him, and used to invite him in for a cup of tea. He may also have worked on the farm for David Henderson McCathie, at Kainui in the Taupiri area.
He is buried at Taupiri cemetery, on a point, overlooking the river. From the main road to Gordonton, the cemetery is on the left. Over the stile there are 2 concrete graves - one is Leslie Hurley.
