• Notes

  The surname is spelt "Faithful" in the 1841 census but on the UK death index entry for Theodosia in 1846 and the 1851 census the spelling of "Faithfull" is used. But the 1861 census reverts to "Faithful". In the 1841 census Theodosia Vodersar, a teacher aged 58, is with Henry Faithfull and his family. Her relationship (if any ) with the Faithfulls is not known. Henry and Margaret Ann had 8 children between 1824 and 1840 but possibly also had other children - Walter Bushman Faithfull born in 1859 at Redhill, Surrey is noted on a family tree for Catherine Wrathall (Walter's wife) on myheritage.com. Some of Henry's descendants were associated with Brighton, which in earlier times was known as Brighthelmstone. The place names are used interchangeably in family narratives, generally as they were used in source documents.
