  • Notes

    • The will of Charlotte's father Mark Synnot indicates that Charlotte and her brother Richard were under the age of 21, and that there siblings were of full age, when the will was signed on 6 Dec 1838, but does not give any ages or birthdates. This indicates that Charlotte was born in 1818 or later.

      P. Hore Synnott Pedigree (1913), page 16:
'Charlotte Augusta = 10 Dec 1846 Chas. Cottingham, only son of the late Jas. Johnstone Esq. of Drum Co Monagan
died at Teneriffe 16 Nov 1853.'

Charlotte was a witness at the marriage of her sister Anne Jane to Mark Seton Synnot in Paris in 1843.

In turn, Anne Jane was a witness for Charlotte when she married Charles Cottingham Johnstone in St Peters, Dublin in 1846. Their sister Maria and her husband George Woods Maunsell were witnesses for Charles.
