      'Martin of Ballybrennan & Ballicaran [1] = Elinor dau of Aristotle Scurlock of Rosslare.
      b. 16 Eliz [1573] died 31 July 1618[2]'

      [2] I & D. His wardship & marriage was granted to Sir Laurence Esmonde [J. 1613] Livery of seisin granted as heir of his grandfather 19 June 1607. [B. 5 Jas I]. He made a recognizance in 1607 for £1000 to Robt Esmonde of Johnstown. [A. see also p54] One of the gentlemen of the Barony of Forth in 1608.

      Page 54 says:
      '1608-9 Recognizance by Martin Synnott of "Ballybrinhan" to Robert Esmond of Johnstown, Co Wexford, gent in £1000.[7]

      Martin Synnot Esq. of Ballytramon and Ballybrennan, whose father predeceased Martin's grandfather, was heir to his grandfather. He was also known as Martin Synnot of “the Ancient Manors of Ballybrennan and Ballycarran”. He had livery at 10 June 1607.

      An entry in Calendar of the Patent Rolls of the Chancery of Ireland. - (Dublin 1800.) (angl.) 372 S (Pat. Roll 2 James I page 62) states:
      'LXX.-50. Grant to sir Lau. Esmond, knt, of the wardship of Martin Synnott, gent. son and heir of Walter Synnott, deceased, and son and heir of Rich. Synnott, late of Ballibrennan in co. Wexford, deceased, for a fine of £8 sterl. and an annual rent of £8 sterl. retaining £4 thereof for his maintenance and education in the English religion and habits, and in Trinity College, Dublin, from the 12th to the 18th year of his age - 18 Dec. 2nd. (this is 18 Dec 1604).'

      At page 102 of the Calendar:
      'Livery of seisin to Martin Synott, son to Walter Synott, and heir of Richard Synott late of Ballebrennan in Wexford co. gent deceased ; for a fine of 8l 13s 4d Ir. - 10 June 5th.' (i.e. 10 Jun 1607)
