  It seems likely that there were 2 Joseph Polhmanns, one died 1880 and the other born 1882 died 1952. The key may be on Janet Martin’s Gordon Family Tree website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~gordon/gordonfam/pafn891.htm#16119 where it says: “I believe that Joseph arrived in Queensland with his parents, but named Jochim on the passenger list.” This would explain Joseph's absence from the Queensland birth register.
