      William Synnott, 1833-1911, was educated at Maynooth College and ordained as a Roman Catholic priest on 10 Jan 1858. He was parish priest of Templetown from 1886-1911, Canon of Ferns Cathedral from 1896, and became Precenter of Ferns in 1909.  The present parish church at Templetown was built almost entirely at this personal expense, abt 1896-1897.
