  Wickham Hesketh's death was noted in in The Mercury, Hobart on 24 Jul 1868: 'With the change in the weather, which for months previous had been beautiful, have come other changes here; our late Episcopalian clergyman, the Rev, Wickham Meyer Hesketh, M.A., after having lived and ministered among us during a period of about fifteen years, has gone to his long home. His health had been gradually failing for some years, but it was only during the last seven months that it was found to be in such a state as to prevent him from fulfilling his duties; ultimately he was compelled to resign his cure altogether. He expired about nine a.m. on Saturday last, leaving a widow and a very large family to mourn over their loss, a loss, indeed, in every respect ...'
